To retrieve an electronic document having relevance with an event when the event is designated by a user.

The electronic document retrieval system includes: a document information registration means 2 registering document specification information allowing specification of a document referred to by the user into a history database 1; a management means 3 increasing a relevance evaluation value which is associated to the document specification information for specifying the document referred to when the document specified by the document specification information is referred to and which indicates the relevance with the event executed on time when the document is referred to, and storing the relevance evaluation value after the increase into the history database 1; and a document retrieval means 5 extracting one or more pieces of the document specification information from the high relevance evaluation value related to the event in turn when optional event information is designated from a schedule that is a list of event information, and displaying the extracted document specification information on a display means 4. The management means 3 changes a degree of the increase of the relevance evaluation value according to a reference situation of the user.
