Abstract:
New water-soluble or water-swellable crosslinked copolymers (A) consist of: (1) 1-50 wt. % of N-vinyl-lactam repeating units (I) or a mixture of units (I) and N-vinyl-amide repeating units (II); (2) 49.99-98.99 wt. % N-(sulfoalkyl)-acrylamide salt derivative repeating units (III); and (3) 0.01-8 wt. % crosslinking structures derived from monomers having at least two olefinic double bonds. New water-soluble or water-swellable crosslinked copolymers (A) consist of: (1) 1-50 wt. % of N-vinyl-lactam repeating units of formula (I) or a mixture of units (I) and N-vinyl-amide repeating units of formula (II); (2) 49.99-98.99 wt. % N-(sulfoalkyl)-acrylamide salt derivative repeating units of formula (III); and (3) 0.01-8 wt. % crosslinking structures derived from monomers having at least two olefinic double bonds. [Image] n : 2-9; R, R1, R2H, 1-30C (preferably 1-20C, especially 1-12C) alkyl or 2-30C (preferably 2-20C, especially 2-12C) alkenyl; R3H, Me or Et; Y : 1-8C alkylene; X : alkali metal or alkaline earth metal ion. An independent claim is included for the preparation of (A).
