To provide a fuel cell system in which hydrogen gas of a quantity corresponding to the power generation amount of a fuel cell stack can be supplied and the amount of electric power to be consumed by an auxiliary equipment can be reduced.
The fuel cell system comprises the fuel cell stack in which a fuel cell interposing an electrolyte between a fuel electrode and an oxygen electrode is laminated interposing a separator in which a fuel passage is formed along the fuel electrode, a hydrogen gas storage unit which houses a hydrogen adsorbent or a hydrogen storage body and stores hydrogen gas to be supplied to the fuel passage, a fuel cell cooling system to cool the fuel cell stack, and a refrigeration cycle type cooling system for a vehicle air-conditioner or a vehicle refrigerator. The hydrogen adsorbent or the hydrogen storage body housed in the hydrogen gas storage unit is heated by waste heat of the refrigeration cycle type cooling system.
