To provide a drive unit for a measuring instrument capable of recognizing instantaneously a vehicle travel distance within a time interval when a user stores vehicular information data.

This drive unit 1 for the measuring instrument is provided with the measuring instrument 5 having a display part (digital display part) 5d capable of displaying vehicular information, and control means (the first and second control means) 3a, 5a for operating the display part 5d based on the vehicular information data indicating the measurement value of the vehicular information, and for storing the vehicular information data within a prescribed period in a storage means (memory card) 3b. The display part 5d can display the travel distance, and the control means 3a, 5a calculate an integrated data indicating the travel distance under storage processing, and make the travel distance under the storage processing displayed on the display part 5d, when starting the storage of the vehicular information data.
