To improve insulating performance of a corner part in a flat rectangular electric wire.
The flat rectangular electric wire is constituted of a conductor 1 of which the cross-sectional shape is composed of a flat rectangular copper wire, and an insulating layer 2 consisting of a first insulating layer 2a covering the outer periphery of the conductor 1, and a second insulating layer 2b covering the outer periphery of the first insulating layer 2a. The thickness T1 (t1+t2) of the corner part of the insulating coat 2 is set to become larger than the thickness T2 (t3+t4) of a flat part, and a dielectric constant ε1 of the total corner part is set to be smaller than the dielectric constant ε2 of the total flat part.
