To enhance the accuracy of remaining battery level estimation and further reduce power used to estimate a remaining battery level.

When it is estimated in an electronic device, such as a digital camera, whether or not an operation instructed by an input from an operating portion can be performed by the present remaining battery power, it is made possible to arbitrarily vary the value of a current passed through a load circuit. Thus, when high estimation accuracy is required, the current value can be increased; and when high estimation accuracy is unnecessary, the current value can be reduced. As a result, the power consumed in remaining level estimation can be reduced.
