To use one of permanent magnets to be selected for one magnetic pole to adjust the amount of magnetic flux of a permanent magnet according to driven load in a simple configuration, and suppress torque ripples and cogging torque even if a ratio of permanent magnets with a small coercive force is reduced.
A rotor core 13 of a rotor 5 is constituted by combining a plurality of split cores 13A and 13B having a plurality of magnet insertion holes 17 in a circumferential direction. Either of the permanent magnets 14 and 15 different in coercive force is selected for each pole, and then inserted into the magnet insertion holes 17 of the split cores 13A and 13B. In the split cores 13A and 13B, the number of permanent magnets 14 with a low coercive force is set smaller than that of permanent magnets 15 with a high coercive force. The total magnetic flux amount of a plurality of permanent magnets are set to be almost equal between the adjacent split cores 13A and 13B.
