To provide an operation method of a rotary kiln extending the service life of an exhaust gas fan of the rotary kiln, improving dust collecting efficiency in an electric dust collector, and increasing a processing quantity of a raw material ore in the rotary kiln, by controlling the exhaust gas temperature and a moisture percentage in exhaust gas, while preventing the deterioration in handling performance in a carrying system of the raw material ore to the rotary kiln and trouble in an exhaust gas flue of the rotary kiln, in the rotary kiln for performing baking and partial reduction processing of iron ore and nonferrous metal ore.
This operation method is characterized by intermittently or continuously adding a sufficient quantity of water 9 for improving the duct collecting efficiency in the electric dust collector 10 of dust existing in the exhaust gas, by extending the fan service life by restraining a rise in the exhaust gas temperature, in addition to insertion of the raw material ore 2 from the raw material ore supply side of the rotary kiln.
