To efficiently remove a foreign matter adhering to a surface of an optical member without influencing accuracy of shutter operation.
The imaging apparatus includes: an infrared cut filter 410 disposed on a photographic optical axis in front of an imaging device 33; piezoelectric elements 430a and 430b giving vibration to the infrared cut filter 410; and a shutter unit 32 arranged in front of the infrared cut filter 410, and equipped with a front curtain blade 602a traveling to an opening state from a shutting state of an aperture during exposure, a rear curtain blade 606a traveling to the shutting state from the opening state of the aperture during exposure, and a drive means performing superposing drive to set the front curtain blade 602a and the rear curtain blade 606a to the opening state from the shutting state of the aperture and developing drive to set them to the shutting state from the opening state of the aperture, wherein the developing drive of the rear curtain blade 606a is performed after the infrared cut filter 410 is vibrated in the shutting state of the front curtain blade 602a.
