To provide a method for cleaning a steel strip by which a stable rinsing effect can be obtained even if a water solution containing a surfactant is used as a rinsing agent, and also the rinsing agent is circularly used in a rinsing stage in the method for cleaning a steel strip.
The method for cleaning the steel strip includes: a cleaning stage (1) where stain stuck to a steel strip is cleaned with a detergent; and a rinsing stage (2) where the steel strip after being subjected to the cleaning stage (1) is rinsed with a rinsing agent W. The rinsing agent used in the rinsing stage (2) uses a water base composition containing a cationic surfactant (a) expressed by general formula (1).
