To provide a means which enables an arbitrary selection of a highly-functional photocatalyst, has a good adhesion of the photocatalyst with a substrate, and low costs, and in which the manufacturing method is simple and the typical functions such as humidity conditioning, which are generally desired for a building material, and which the substrate has essentially, are not damaged, in the manufacturing method of the functional building material having the photocatalytic function.
The substrate is limited to one which is manufactured by a manufacturing method of mixing water and a raw material typified by cement to cure by a hydration reaction. An aqueous solution in which photocatalyst particles are dispersed is attached to the surface of the substrate before the curing, and the photocatalyst particles are firmly fixed on the surface by a curing reaction of an inorganic component in the substrate and an inorganic component in the aqueous solution.
