The metal-supported catalyst for purifying exhaust gas includes a metal support 1 formed of an iron-based metal foil or an iron-based metal sheet, a carrier coating 2 formed on the surface of the metal support 1, a supported layer 3 formed on the surface of the carrier coating 2, and a catalyst metal supported on the supported layer 3. The metal-support catalyst for purifying exhaust gas indicates the effect of hardly causing peeling of the supported layer due to corrosion of the metal support and giving a long life as the metal-supported catalyst for purifying exhaust gas.
