To provide a camera designed so as to change a light emission mode for an external stroboscopic device according to a photographic mode.
The camera includes: a communicating means to which an external stroboscopic device having a plurality of light emission modes can be connected and which communicates with the external stroboscopic device; a selecting means for selecting a first photographic mode in which the external stroboscopic device is operable in the plurality of light emission modes or a second photographic mode in which the external stroboscopic device is operable only in one of the plurality of light emission modes; a control means for outputting, via the communicating means, a signal for changing the light emission mode according to the photographic mode selected by the selecting means; a storage means for storing the first light emission mode set in the first photographic mode; and a setting means by which if the second photographic mode is returned to the first photographic mode after the first photographic mode is changed to the second photographic mode, the first light emission mode stored in the storage means is set.
