Abstract:

To provide a catalyst for producing ethylene oxide, which is excellent in activity and selectivity and is excellent in economical efficiency with little performance decline over a long period of time, and a catalyst carrier for obtaining the catalyst for producing the ethylene oxide, in a method of producing the ethylene oxide by catalytic gas-phase oxidation of ethylene.

The principal component of the carrier of the catalyst for producing the ethylene oxide is α-alumina, and at least a part thereof is layered aluminum oxide. Also, the catalyst for producing the ethylene oxide is composed by carrying catalyst components including the silver in the carrier.
