Abstract:

To provide a method for efficiently chemically synthesizing a polyacene compound in a short time without using any organic solvent and acid/base catalyst(s) and without imposing any environmental burden.

The method for chemically synthesizing a polyacene compound such as pentacenequinone is provided, comprising conducting a reaction between two molecules of an aromatic aldehyde such as phthalaldehyde and one molecule of a cyclic ketone compound such as 1,4-cyclohexanedione in a high-temperature and high-pressure ambience of supercritical or subcritical state in the absence of any catalyst.
