Abstract:
Presented is a method for forming a score line in a belt-like sheet glass, which can form a score line for snapping well a belt-like sheet glass without generating cullet at a starting point of scoring with a cutter. By employing a servo motor of high response as an advancing/retracting means which imparts a pressing force to a cutter and advances or retracts the cutter with respect to the belt-like sheet glass, and a parallel link mechanism for transmitting directly a rotary motion of the servo motor to advancing/retracting motions of the cutter, a score line can be formed in parallel to the direction of conveyance of belt-like sheet glass. Further, torque control is carried out so that the pressing force of the cutter at a first stage is smaller than the pressing force at a second stage wherein the pressing force of the cutter at a first stage takes place when the cutter is brought in contact with the belt-like sheet glass to start scoring and the pressing force at a second stage takes place subsequently from the start of the scoring.
