Abstract:

To solve a problem that piping for circulating cooling water to an exhaust gas recirculation control valve is required and engine assembly manhours increase accordingly in a water cooled exhaust gas recirculation control valve.

This internal combustion engine includes: an internal combustion engine body including a catalyst purifying exhaust gas at a downstream of an exhaust system and having the exhaust system positioned at a front side of a vehicle when the engine is mounted on the vehicle; a turbocharger disposed at an upstream of the catalyst in a front side of the internal combustion engine body and compressing intake air by being driven by the exhaust gas; and an exhaust gas recirculation device re-circulating part of the exhaust gas to an upstream of a compressor of the turbocharger from a downstream of the catalyst. In the engine. The exhaust gas recirculation device includes an exhaust gas recirculation control valve regulating quantity of re-circulated exhaust gas, and the exhaust gas recirculation control valve is disposed at a position below an intake air inlet pipe of the upstream of the compressor and in front of the internal combustion engine body through which traveling air passes.
