Abstract:
To provide a processing method capable of preventing ringing in edge enhancement and producing a natural edge enhancement effect.
An image processing method for performing the edge enhancement on an original image extracts edge components based on the original image, corrects the extracted edge components to attenuate each edge component so that frequency distribution concerning intensity of the edge component approaches a Gaussian distribution of a prescribed width, and applies the edge enhancement on the original image based on the corrected edge components.
