To provide an imaging apparatus implementing a live view as a high definition finder while reducing power consumption.

An imaging apparatus is equipped with: an imaging means which images a subject based on an imaging frame rate to capture image data; an interpolation image data generating means for generating interpolation image data between imaging frames from the image data; and a display means for displaying the image data or displaying the image data and the interpolation image data based on a display frame rate. When the imaging frame rate is set lower than the display frame rate and predetermined conditions are satisfied, the display means displays the image data and the interpolation image data and when the predetermined conditions are not satisfied, the display means displays the image data.
