To provide an imaging device and an imaging method which can automatically set the photographic distance range of continuous shooting target so as to be previously confirmed, and to effectively focus on a desired subject, using a relatively few photographic sheets for images.
The imaging device is focused on a subject by moving at least a part of an imaging lens 1 as a focusing lens 1b. The focusing lens 1b is automatically focused on the subject, and a predetermined distance range including a subject distance to the subject obtained by autofocusing is set as a target photographing distance range for continuous shooting. The set target photographic distance range is displayed, together with an image of the subject focused by autofocusing, whereby a user can visually confirm the target photographing distance range for continuous shooting, and can change and set it previously. Photographing at a plurality of focused positions is continuously conducted in the displayed target photographing distance range for continuous shooting while moving the focusing lens 1b according to input of a photographing instruction in such a state that the target photographing distance range for continuous shooting is confirmed.
