Abstract:
There are provided a pin terminal that can be joined to an center shaft with high joint strength and achieve a reduction in the amount of material and weight of a glow plug, and a glow plug that provides excellent durability through the joining between an center shaft and a pin terminal with high joint strength and can achieve a reduction in the amount of material and weight. The glow plug of the invention includes a main body bracket 3, a heater 5, an center shaft 7, an insulator 19, an O-ring 17 that is provided between the front end surface of the insulator 19 and the main body bracket 3, and a pin terminal 10 that is fitted to the rear end portion of the center shaft 7 and used for supplying electricity from the outside. The pin terminal 10 includes a small-diameter portion 10a, a flange 10d, and a large-diameter portion 10b where a engagement portion 10e and a fitting recess 25 are formed. The large-diameter portion 10b includes a crimp formation region 10f, which is formed so as to have the even outer diameter and be capable of being crimped, in a range from the front end thereof to the front end of the engagement portion 10e. A part of the crimping target portion forms a crimping portion 10g that fixes the rear end portion of the center shaft 7 by crimping.
