To provide an induction hardening apparatus capable of hardening an annular groove provided on the inner surface of a cylindrical work with good positional accuracy and uniformity using a single apparatus.
The apparatus includes a column 10, a lower jig 11A, a high frequency heating coil 12, a shielding ring 13, and nozzles 20a and 23a, wherein a gap S2 where cooling fluid can circulate is formed between the lower jig 11A and the shielding ring 13. The lower jig 11A can position an outer ring W. The high frequency heating coil 12 includes a circular heating conductor 12a which is provided on the external surface of the column 10 and is concentrically opposed to the inner surface of the outer ring W. The shielding ring 13 is opposed to the lower part of the inner surface of the outer ring W to shield magnetic flux so that it may not spread to a lower notch d.
