To provide a method of manufacturing a sealing honeycomb structure, the sealing honeycomb structure having a uniform sealing depth.
Seal filling fixtures 16 are arranged such that cells to be sealed (sealing cells 4a) of a honeycomb structure 3 cover the outer periphery of one end 7a on the opened side and that the tip end is nearly flush with the end face of the one end 7a. An outer diameter is increased on the one end 7a side of the honeycomb structure 3, and the one end 7a of the honeycomb structure 3 with the seal filling fixtures 16 arranged thereon is pressed against ceramic slurry 9. Thus, by introducing the ceramic slurry 9 into the inside of the sealing cells 4a, sealing parts are formed, in the method of manufacturing sealing honeycomb structure.
