Abstract:
A carbon nanotube solubilizer which can separate carbon nanotubes in a medium such as an organic solvent up to the single molecular size and can make the nanotubes dissolve in an organic solvent isolatedly, more specifically, a carbon nanotube solubilizer consisting of a hyperbranch polymer which comprises aroylbiphenyl structure units represented by general formula (1) and has a weight-average molecular weight of 1,000 to 1,000,000; and a composition comprising the solubilizer, carbon nanotubes, and an organic solvent. In general formula (1), X is hydrogen or a group represented by general formula (2) wherein R1 is hydrogen or a group represented by general formula (3) or (4). In general formulae (3) and (4), R2 and R3 are each independently hydrogen or alkyl having 1 to 6 carbon atoms.
