The information retrieval device 1 for retrieving surrounding information of a vehicle 3 from a map information DB 31 includes: a retrieval range limitation processing part 11 for calculating a retrieval range G of the map information DB 31 on the basis of the position of the vehicle 3 and the traveling direction and vehicle speed V of the vehicle 3; and a retrieval executing part 14 for retrieving surrounding information in the retrieval range G, thereby the driver can retrieve the surrounding information for confirming with sufficient time during driving, so that when the driver includes the information is provided to the driver, an drive and arrive at the place shown by the surrounding information reasonably.
