To provide a method of production of a biomass charcoal for upright furnace blowing capable of producing a biomass charcoal having a low alkali metal content even when the biomass contains an alkali metal such as potassium and sodium and preferably applicable to an upright furnace even when the biomass contains silicon and the ash has a low basicity, by which the carbonization yield of the biomass charcoal becomes high.
This method of producing a biomass charcoal for upright furnace blowing includes: adding calcium to a biomass when producing a biomass charcoal by dry-distilling the biomass; and dry-distilling the biomass after the addition of the calcium, in which the calcium is preferably added to the biomass by cleaning the biomass with an aqueous calcium hydroxide solution having a saturated concentration or more.
