To provide a technique for improving the efficiency of a permanent magnet rotating machine by reducing the amount of a short circuit magnetic flux flowing through a bridge portion while approximating gap magnetic flux density to a sine wave shape.
A first magnet housing hole 32c and a second magnet housing hole 34c are provided on a main magnetic pole portion of a rotor. In this way, an intermediate bridge portion 36c, a first external circumferential bridge portion 37c1 and a second external circumferential bridge portion 37c2 are formed. A center portion magnetic orientation direction 33A (35A) of the first permanent magnet 33c (second permanent magnet 35c) housed in the first magnet housing hole 32c (second magnet housing hole 34c) converges to an orientation center point c11 (c21) of the center portion, and a magnetic orientation direction 33C (35C) of end portions converges to an orientation center point c13 (c23) of a distal end farther than the orientation center point c11 (c21) of the center portion.
