Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To speedily detect clogging when only a distribution passage connected to some cylinders is clogged in an internal combustion engine with an exhaust gas recirculation device configured to distribute EGR gas to each cylinder through the distribution passage.SOLUTION: According to an abnormality detection program, knockings occurring during an EGR execution are detected for each cylinder; the number of the detected knockings is counted for each cylinder; exhaust gas circulation is inhibited when the number of the counted knockings in a specific cylinder exceeds a predetermined value; and a temporary abnormality of the engine 100 is outputted. This suppresses deterioration of the exhaust gas composition. Additionally, the abnormality for each cylinder can be handled precisely, thus permitting abnormality treatment for each cylinder.
