Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To select suitable shutter means in accordance with various types of accessories mounted to an electronic camera and the functions of the accessories.SOLUTION: The electronic camera for imaging a subject comprises: imaging means for photoelectric conversion of a subject image to generate an image signal; mechanical shutter means which controls light incident time to the imaging means using a mechanical front curtain and rear curtain, thereby controlling the exposure time of the imaging means; electronic shutter means which electrically controls the operation timing of the imaging means without using the front curtain, thereby controlling the exposure timing of the imaging means; photometric means which detects subject luminance for each area within an imaging screen; and control means which if the photometric means detects existence of an area representing luminance of a predetermined value or more within the imaging screen, controls the mechanical shutter means to control the exposure time of the imaging means.
