Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display device for a vehicle capable of properly displaying an image which gives priority to viewability and an image which gives priority to the achievement of the purpose of display.SOLUTION: This display device for the vehicle includes a liquid crystal panel illuminated by a light source. The liquid crystal panel includes warning display pixels for displaying a warning image when an abnormality occurs at particular points, and meter display pixels for displaying a meter image in normal times when a warning image is not displayed by the warning display pixels and when an abnormality occurs. A control circuit for controlling the liquid crystal panel and the light source sets, in a first mode, the gradation ratio of the meter display pixels and the gradation ratio of the warning display pixels obtained when an abnormality occurs to the maximum ratios RMmax and RWmax, respectively, and under the conditions that the light switch of the vehicle is turned on, performs a gradation treatment which, in a second mode changed from the first mode, further increases the gradation ratio of the warning display pixels obtained when an abnormality occurs than the gradation ratio of the meter display pixels.
