Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a travel support apparatus in which a degree of dependence on driving of a driver is reduced as further as possible without supporting travel from any other facility than a vehicle and travel of a vehicle traveling on a lane next to a lane where an obstacle is present or on the lane where the obstacle is present is supported for facilitating travel of the vehicle to avoid the obstacle.SOLUTION: When it is received by a radio communication section 30 that an obstacle exists forward on a neighboring lane of a present vehicle from a vehicle on the neighboring lane, a travel management section 120 secures an inter-vehicle distance between the present vehicle and a forward vehicle for a length requested from the vehicle on the neighboring lane or more so that the vehicle on the neighboring lane can change a traveling lane while avoiding the obstacle and can easily be merged in front of the present vehicle. At such a time, the travel management section 120 supports travel of the present vehicle in accordance with automatic driving control or a notification from a speaker 52 to a driver. The vehicle on the neighboring lane also supports travel of the present vehicle in accordance with the automatic driving control or the notification from the speaker 52 to the driver to merge into the lane where no obstacle exists, and leave the lane after merging.
