PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce an authentication time in a biometric authentication device.SOLUTION: In a biometric authentication method, an identification information list is prepared for registering identification information of a plurality of persons authenticated by 1:1 authentication. At the time of 1: N authentication, registered persons are screened by using a plurality of identification information registered on the identification information list, and registered biometric information of the screened plurality of registered persons and the biometric information for verification are collated for authentication.
