Abstract:
The method involves determining set points for trapped air mass and trapped burnt gas mass in a cylinder. An intake pressure set point is generated from the air mass set point. A position set point is generated for a set of variable timing actuators (ActVVT). An air admission butterfly valve and the actuators are controlled so as to meet the intake pressure set point and the position set point of the actuators, where generation of the intake position set point and position set point and a control operation of a throttle and the actuators are performed with respect to the gas mass set point.
