To provide a rubber composition for a base tread, capable of achieving both of the maintenance of desired characteristics of a base tread part, such as rolling resistance characteristics and steering stability, and the improvement of processability, while reducing the amounts of used raw materials originated from a petroleum resource, and to provide a pneumatic tire having the base tread part using the rubber composition.
The rubber composition for a base tread contains a rubber component and ≥0.5 pt.mass of at least one of a terpene-based resin and a rosin-based resin based on 100 pts.mass of the rubber component, wherein the rubber component contains a natural rubber component comprising at least one of a natural rubber and a modified natural rubber within the range of 20-100 mass%. The pneumatic tire has the base tread part using the rubber composition.
