To provide a blinking measuring apparatus and a blinking measuring method having excellent reliability.
The blinking measuring apparatus 1 determines the biological condition of a subject to be measured on the basis of blinking movements of the subject to be measured. The blinking measuring apparatus comprises a photographing section 5 for photographing the eye of the subject to be measured and an eyelid opening/closing measuring section 7 for calculating a blinking characteristic amount regarding blinking movement on the basis of an eye image photographed by the photographing section 5 and determining the kind of blinking movement on the basis of the blinking characteristic amount. Because the blinking measuring apparatus 1 calculates the blinking characteristic amount regarding blinking movement from the photographed image of the eye, the apparatus determines the biological condition of the subject to be measured, such as fatigue or vigilance on the basis of the blinking characteristic amount. In addition, by determining the kind of the blinking movement, evaluation of the blinking characteristic amount appropriate for the kind of blinking movement is achieved. As a result, the reliability of the determination result of the apparatus is improved.
