To provide a system and program for detecting and displaying a difference in a document of a book, which displays a corrected part of the document to efficiently show the intention of a corrector and facilitate composition proofreading workpiece.
The system for detecting and displaying a difference in a document of a book includes: a monitor 22; an original document data storage means 27; a corrected document data storage means 28; a difference detection means 31 comparing the original document data and the corrected document data, detecting a difference in a predetermined range of the document, and calculating a rate of change showing the rate of the number of characters including differences to the number of all characters in the predetermined range including the difference; a difference content decision means 34 deciding the content of difference as a change of the predetermined range when the detected rate of change is less than a threshold value, and as addition or deletion of the predetermined range when it is not less than the threshold value; a result storage means 29 storing a detected correction part and the decided content of difference; and a difference display creation means 30 creating the correction part and the content of difference stored in the result storage means 29 as data to be displayed on the monitor 22.
