Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vibration exciter capable of generating greater amplitude than that generated by a conventional vibration exciter using a piezoelectric device, and adding mechanical vibration to an object even when the vibration exciter is initially not in contact with the object.SOLUTION: A vibration exciter (40) comprises: an electrostrictive material layer; two electrodes arranged individually on both sides of the electrostrictive material layer; first and second electrostrictive elements each configured with a base material bonded on a side of the electrostrictive material layer via any one of the electrodes; and a mass body for giving mechanical vibration to the outside. In the vibration exciter (40), the first electrostrictive element (10) is curved at least partially so as to have a convex on the side of the base material (5); the second electrostrictive element (20) is curved at least partially so as to have a convex on the side of the electrostrictive material layer (11); the first and second electrostrictive elements (10, 20) are connected in series with first ends (10a, 20a) thereof, respectively, via the mass body (30); and second ends (10b, 20b) of the first and second electrostrictive elements (10, 20), respectively, work as fixed ends.
