Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automatically keep a natural gray scale and to respond to user's intention to increase brightness to some degree.SOLUTION: An imaging device comprises: automatic backlight detection means which detects the backlight degree of a subject; forced backlight correction means which generates an instruction of a predetermined gray scale correction amount in response to a user's instruction; and gray scale correction amount change means which changes the gray scale correction amount with the backlight degree detected by the automatic backlight detection means and the instruction of the gray scale correction amount from the forced backlight correction means. The gray scale correction amount change means restricts the sum of the gray scale correction amount determined from the result of the detection by the automatic backlight detection means and the gray scale correction amount obtained by the forced backlight correction means to be smaller than a predetermined value.
