Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To determine abnormality of a fuel electrode due to oxidation of nickel exactly in a solid oxide fuel battery, which uses methane modified as fuel gas.SOLUTION: Partial water vapor pressure in exhaust gas discharged from a fuel electrode during power generation operation of a solid oxide fuel cell is measured as a measured partial water vapor pressure. Subsequently, the measure temperature of the measured partial water vapor pressure is compared with the temperature in a region where the fuel electrode is disposed, thus calculating the effective partial water vapor pressure in that region. Thereafter, the fact that the effective partial water vapor pressure has increased 6% or more than a normal value is detected, and a determination is made that abnormality has generated in the fuel electrode.
