Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide high reliability multicast address resolution without multiplexing a multicast address resolution server.SOLUTION: The multicasting method comprises, in order: a step in which a receiving side multicast device 4a acquires address information of a distribution server 1 from a multicast address resolution server 6 to record it; a step in which the receiving side multicast device 4a transmits a request for receiving a video or sound stream to the distribution server 1 upon receiving the request; a step in which a server side multicast device 2 converts a multicast packet output from the distribution server 1 to a unicast packet and transmits the unicast packet to the receiving side multicast device 4a; and a step in which the receiving side multicast device 4a converts the unicast packet to a multicast packet and distributes the multicast packet across a subnet where a receiving device 5a, 5b, or 5c is connected.
