Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To ensure drivability while achieving reliable catalytic warm-up when shifting to a CS mode having an operation frequency of an engine higher than that of a CD mode from the CD mode for performing EV traveling in principle in a plug-in hybrid vehicle including an EHC.SOLUTION: An ECU permits the EHC to be turned on (S12) when an SOC reduces to less than a threshold Sehc during the CD mode (YES in SS10 and S11), and permits the EHC to be intermittently turned on according to whether EHC power consumption Pehc is less than a permissible value (=WOUT-Pus) where user request power Pus is subtracted from battery output enable power WOUT (S20- S23). The ECU integrates the EHC power consumption Pehc to calculate an electric energy integrated value Wehc thrown into a catalyst (S30), and shifts to the CS mode (S38) when a reference value W1 is exceeded by Wehc (YES in S31).
