Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a secondary battery system capable of stopping both a charging operation and a discharging operation during a failure of switches for charging control and discharging control incorporated in a protection circuit of the secondary battery.SOLUTION: In a protection circuit of a secondary battery, a discharge switch is incorporated, which is to be brought into conduction when a discharge control switch is determined in a failure. In the circuit, a load resistor is also incorporated, which can be a load during a discharge of the secondary battery. A protection detection part switches on the discharge switch when the discharge control switch is determined in a failure, and it also switches off the discharge control switch. When the discharge control switch is not in a state of being normally switched off, the discharge control switch is determined as being in a failure. And also, when a charge control switch is determined in a failure, the charge control switch is to be switched off. When the charge control switch is not in a state of being normally switched off, the charge control switch is determined as being in a failure.
