Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the water repellency of a gas diffusion layer and the durability of the water repellency.SOLUTION: A fuel cell 10 includes an electrolyte membrane 121, catalyst layers 122 and 123 formed on both surfaces of the electrolyte membrane, and diffusion layers 132 and 133 disposed on the surfaces of the catalyst layers opposite to the electrolyte membrane. The diffusion layer 132 includes a base material 132a and a water-repellent material coated with the base material. The water-repellent material is composed of particulates which form multiple layers.
