Abstract:

Various embodiments of the present invention are provided for automatically testing (200) an overspeed protection system of a powerplant machine (105,145) comprising at least one shaft (137). An embodiment of the present invention may automatically test the overspeed protection system while the powerplant machine (105,145) is decelerating from full-speed-no-load (FSNL). Another embodiment of the present invention may automatically test the overspeed protection system of the powerplant machine (105,145) while the powerplant machine is accelerating to FSNL.
