Abstract:
In an apparatus for supplying empty reels 4 to winding rollers 1, 2 for production of a wound roll of fibre material, empty reels 4 are held in a store located to the side of the winding rollers. A replacement empty reel may be moved from the store and into a cleft-shaped space defined by the pair of winding rollers by a pneumatic cylinder (8, figure 2b) and associated pushing element (9). The store may comprise a slanting ramp allowing the empty reels 4 to be fed by gravity into a waiting position alongside the cleft space. A fully wound reel may be removed by lateral reel holders 10a, 10b and carriage 11a, 11b moving it up and away from the cleft-shaped space where it is released onto a sloping surface to roll into a removal position. After ejection of the wound roll an empty reel may be moved into position through an opening (13, figure 1a) in the carriage. Alternatively the carriage may comprise an open framework. Sliver from a combing machine may be wound onto the reels 4.
