Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multifunctional material that has a surface layer with improved corrosion resistance and hydrogen absorption resistance, and to provide a method for manufacturing the same.SOLUTION: The multifunctional material includes: a substrate having at least a surface layer composed of zirconium, zirconium alloy, zirconium oxide, or zirconium alloy oxide; and a multifunctional layer provided at least on the surface of the surface layer of the substrate, and composed of an iron carbon doped oxide layer in which the oxide of zirconium or zirconium alloy is doped with iron and carbon.
