Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently and inexpensively produce methane by methanation of COand/or CO without using hydrogen produced in a different process.SOLUTION: The inside of a reactor is divided into an ammonia decomposition chamber A (installed with an ammonia decomposition catalyst x) and a methanation reaction chamber B (installed with a methanation catalyst y) through a hydrogen separation membrane m. Only hydrogen which is generated by the decomposition of ammonia introduced to the ammonia decomposition chamber A is caused to permeate through the hydrogen separation membrane m and flow into the methanation chamber B, and reacted with COand/or CO introduced in the methanation reaction chamber B to generate methane.
