Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a separator material having excellent fineness and a uniform texture, showing high resistance to shorts when used as a separator of an alkaline secondary battery, and achieving a long charge-discharge cycle life, and a battery comprising the same.SOLUTION: A separator material in accordance with an embodiment of the present invention is made of a nonwoven fabric containing high-strength composite fibers having a single-fiber strength of 4.0 cN/dtex or higher. In the nonwoven fabric, at least a portion of constituent fibers is thermally bonded together with the high-strength composite fibers, the extension percentage of the high-strength composite fibers is higher than 30% and equal to or lower than 60%, and the modulus of elasticity is equal to or higher than 3250 N/mmand lower than 4650 N/mm.
