Abstract:
• An image capture apparatus capable of executing automatic focus detection of an imaging optical system including focus lens, the apparatus comprising output means for outputting, for a focusing operation, a focus detection result based on an image signal output from an image sensor; first acquisition means for acquiring first information which is related to characteristics of a signal used for outputting the focus detection result, and acquiring second information which is related to characteristics of an image to be captured; second acquisition means for acquiring third information which is related to aberrations of the imaging optical system; calculation means for calculating a correction value based on the first information, the second information, and the third information, and correcting the focus detection result by using the calculated correction value; and control means for controlling movement of the focus lens based on the corrected focus detection result.
