Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a continuous production method of butyl acrylate which suppresses an amount of butyl 3-butoxypropionate produced and improves the reaction conversion rate of acrylic acid, with an aim to carry out a more efficient esterification reaction in series multistage reactive distillation using acrylic acid and butanol.SOLUTION: The method for producing butyl acrylate comprises: a reaction step of reacting acrylic acid and butanol using multistage reactors in series to obtain a reaction mixture containing butyl acrylate; and a distillation step of separating the butyl acrylate from the reaction mixture containing butyl acrylate, produced in the reaction step, by distillation using a distillation column. In the reaction step, a heat quantity of a heat source, supplied to at least the downstream-most reactor of the multistage reactors in series, is maintained substantially constant.
